Covert
Operations (or undercover) represent the most
effective way
for corporations and businesses to
ferret out thieves, vandals, and drug dealers
from a respective work force.
|
Covert
Operations are a highly specialized type of
investigation requiring intense attention to
detail and a complex pattern of execution to
achieve a safe and successful outcome, while preserving corporate civil liability exposure. |
Covert
Operations are extremely sensitive and
can be dangerous if not properly
executed.
|
|
Generally
speaking, this is how Covert Operations work:
|
A corporation may or may not be aware of
substantial financial losses they are sustaining
from their product being stolen “out the back
door”. In
most cases, the respective business does not
have an adequate inventory system to quantify
losses or an effective system in place to detect who is involved and how their
own employees are stealing from them. Even the best security camera systems
and/or uniformed guards on the premises cannot
stop the best of thieves.
|
SECO
will send an operative through the normal hiring
channels to then be placed among the work
force. The operative will perform the job
exactly like any other employee however he/she
will be sending a detailed, daily report
to the SECO office documenting all activities, relationships,
and observations
involving fellow co-workers...everyday.
|
This daily documentation will
create a fresh
continuity of evidence resulting in:
- Terminations
- Law Enforcement Arrests
- Criminal
Prosecutions as Applicable
|
A successful outcome is
largely based on proper SECO supervision
and documented details to avoid wrongful termination lawsuits.
|
|
These
cases require a strong financial commitment
because they take time. Covert
operations are not designed to be a
quick fix, but are instead conducted to
ensure optimal performance and revenue
for our client's business. It takes time for the operatives to learn
the job, the players to target, and most
importantly to gain the trust of co-workers, in
particular the criminals on staff.
|
Once trust
is gained, then evidence will
begin to mount and the client will then know the
who, what, where, when, why and how of
criminal activity and administrative
violations.
|
At
the culmination of the covert operation, SECO
and law enforcement personnel will arrange
a day to show up at the
respective business, unannounced and
will proceed to:
- Terminate
all guilty personnel
- Arrest
those as applicable
- Escort
the guilty from the
premises.
|
SECO
security guards will then be placed in
appropriate locations for subsequent protection
as required. The message sent to remaining workforce
on these days is extremely effective in keeping
employees focused on doing the jobs they are
paid to do.
|
|
|
The
paradox of these investigations is that, while
they require a strong financial commitment, the
amount of money saved in the long run cannot be
quantified.
