Covert Operations In ActionSECO Goes Undercover to Stop Drug Dealers: A couple of years ago, SECO was contacted by an angry president of a worldwide manufacturing corporation headquartered in Southern California. He was tired of treating his employees so well while some of them, in return, were not only dealing or using drugs, but were stealing and vandalizing company property. This company employed hundreds of workers at the headquarters facility alone. At first, the obvious drug tests and camera surveillance systems were analyzed. Unfortunately, drug tests were only conducted when employees were first hired, and the company's camera system simply wasn't adequate enough to catch any "bad guys." So, a SECO undercover agent was sent in to check it out. He was processed through normal hiring channels, but the information on his application was false in order to protect him down the road. Note that only three corporate officers were aware of the investigation. The agent worked every day amongst the labor force just like any employee. Unlike other employees, however, he faxed a daily report of his activities to SECO. Those faxes covered information such as who he met by name and physical description, what their jobs were, what criminal activity they discussed in the lunch room and after hours in the parking lot or nearby taverns, etc. Most importantly, he provided identification of who was using or dealing drugs on company property, as well as the identification of those who were stealing or vandalizing. During the course of the investigation, SECO also worked in conjunction with local police detectives and arranged several drug deals which were videotaped. The investigation spanned a number of months and, in the end, produced outstanding results. About 10 employees, "the bad apples," were plucked from the work force and fired. Several of the worst "apples" were not only fired, but prosecuted as well. As you can imagine, the rest of the workers quickly snapped into shape, and the company is purring along once again.
